MPSA13 (NPN Darlington Transistor)
The MPSA13 is a NPN Darlington Transistor, meaning it has two NPN transistors inside a single package. The Emitter of the first transistor is connected to the base of the second transistor and both the collector pins are clubbed together as shown in the pinouts image.
This property enables the transistor to have very high gain, like here the MPSA13 has a gain of 5000. This high gain can be useful when designing Audio amplifier circuits. The transistor is also used with Sensors and display drivers since a very small current into the base of the transistor will trigger the transistor making it to conduct.
Applications
- Output stage of Amplifiers
- Touch Sensors
- Power Regulators
- Display Drivers
2D-Model
2D dimensions will help you in placing this component at the time of making circuit on perf board or a PCB.
Pin Number | Pin Name | Description |
1 | Emitter | Current Drains out through emitter, normally connected to ground |
2 | Base | Controls the biasing of transistor, Used to turn ON or OFF the transistor |
3 | Collector | Current flows in through collector, normally connected to load |
